What can you expect at the Bonfire of Joy in Scheveningen?
Giant Bonfire of Joy: From 27 December, a towering woodpile is built on the beach. On New Year's Eve, exactly at 00:00, the fire is lit – a spectacular moment to ring in the New Year.
Free Admission: Everyone is welcome! The boulevard offers a perfect view of the fire and the festive atmosphere.
Scheveningen Tradition: The Bonfire of Joy is a source of local pride, with Scheveningers competing to create the biggest and most beautiful bonfire in the Netherlands.
Lively Atmosphere: The evening is filled with music, cheer, fire pits, and thousands of visitors counting down to midnight together.
Location: The fire is built near the final stop of tram 11, at “the loop” on the Strandweg in Scheveningen.
Practical Information
Crowds and Accessibility: Expect lots of visitors! Public transport is strongly advised. If you're coming by car, it's best to arrive between 18:00 and 20:00 – that’s when parking is usually still available.
Best View: From 22:00 onwards, it's worth finding a good spot along the boulevard. After 23:00 it gets very busy.
